Going, going, gone

Another card design for you this week, showing some soon-to-retire items.

Three cards were shown on Simply Saturday episode 114 which premiered earlier today. (This is my weekly series on YouTube where you can see how to make a fast and easy card each week.) The main card is shown first, using Delightful Floral DSP (sold out) with a second card that is created with the same dimensions but different elements. The third card is made with an alternate set of dimensions. It’s up to you to decide which one is best, but maybe they each have a place (depending on what size papers you might have on hand). The base of cards one and 3 is Parakeet Party which is one of the 5 In Colors that is retiring. (Tahitian Tide, Starry Sky, Sweet Sorbet and Orchid Oasis are the other 4) Stock up on card stock and get a re-inkers before it’s too late.

To make card 1 you’ll need:

  • Parakeet Party card stock base: 5 1/2″ x 7 1/4″. Score and fold at 4 1/4″
  • White layer on front: 2 3/4″ 5 1/4″
  • DSP on front: 2 1/2″ x 5″
  • White card stock for inside: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • DSP for inside: 1 3/8″ 5 1/4″
  • scrap of Berry Burst card stock for the die cut circle
  • scrap of white card stock for die cut circle
  • Charming Sentiments stamp set (retiring). I’ll be listing mine for sell at my Etsy shop on May 1 https://socelebrate.etsy.com
  • Purple fine shimmer gems

The second card, with same dimensions, shows off beautiful shades of purple: Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather and Blackberry Bliss. Both cards have layered circles, cut from Stylish Shapes dies, which will remain available during the 2024-2025 catalog. The DSP on this card is called Perennial Lavender and is carrying over to the new catalog which almost never happens. Here’s what you’ll need for the purple version:

  • Gorgeous Grape card stock base: 5 1/2″ x 7 1/4″
  • Highland Heather card stock for front: 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
  • DSP for front: 2 1/2″ x 5″
  • White card stock for inside: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • DSP for inside: 1 3/8″ x 5 1/4″
  • Blackberry Bliss scrap for die cut circle
  • White scrap for die cut circle

The 3rd card has slightly different dimensions but I went back to the color scheme of the first card. Here are those dimensions:

  • base 5 1/2″ x 7″
  • white layer 2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″
  • DSP 2 1/4″ x 5″
  • white (inside) 2 3/8″ x 5 1/4″
  • DSP 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
  • scrap of Fresh Freesia for rounded rectangle die cut
  • scrap of white for rounded rectangle die cut
  • Adhesive-backed shiny sequins
