Card-making with strips

If you’ve seen several recent YouTube videos at Stamp With Julie Baum, you’ll remember these great cards all made with strips of Designer Series Paper (DSP). If you missed them, or want to go back and watch the tutorials again, look for episodes 124, 125 and 128

This card, featuring Pretty in Pink DSP strips is pretty amazing. AND if your follow the directions in the tutorial, you’ll end up with 2 card pieces instead of just 1. You can make a card with the circle that you die cut and you can use the “negative” piece (the piece left over) to create a different design.

Here is a card made with the negative. You can see that it “frames” an area that is just perfect for stamping.

I used white Baker’s twine, a few flower die cuts and rhinestones to embellish those first 2. If you want to use a narrow piece of ribbon to tie a bow, that will be beautiful too. See this example made with Mediterranean Blooms DSP:

For the next card, I switched to some gorgeous new DSP called Season of Green & Gold. It was released in time to begin your Christmas projects. Why not start early this year?! This card is finished with die cuts from the stamp set/dies “Golden Greenery”, a linen thread bow and gold ribbon knot and then some gold sequins added for more shine.

On episode 128, which will release to YouTube on August 3, I show this card which is the same concept: begin with strips of DSP glued to a piece of cardstock and then use a die to cut it out. I chose a frame shape from (retired) Colors & Contour. But you could use another frame or rectangle shape if you don’t have this one. After die cutting the shape, I simply added this piece to a pre-made Notecard (purchased in packages with their envelopes). A sentiment can be added by stamping and fussy cutting the ends at an angle.

OR…use a die cut shape for your sentiment. I LOVE how these 2 came out.

I feel certain I will make more of these types of cards. The options are endless. As always, I invite you to “like” “follow” and “subscribe” at all of my socials.
